Bootcamp Basics:

Bootcamp Basics is a 4-week bootcamp where you’ll meet weekly as a cohort with Thomas Altman and other association leaders. Each week, you will work with Thomas using sample member data and spreadsheets, which you’ll be able to keep for future reference. 

At the end of the 4 week course, you will leave with an understanding of how to look at your association’s raw data and create a workable retention model.

By the end of Data-Driven Member Retention Bootcamp Basic, you will: 

  • Use a sample spreadsheet of example association raw data to create metrics and KPIs 
  • Create useful visualizations and line graphs in Excel to show the change in metrics over time
  • Create a playbook to identify members at risk of canceling
  • Create targeted strategies to retain those members
  • Formulate a workable retention model using your sample data

Bootcamp Pro is for association pros looking for a little more guidance. In addition to your weekly cohort lesions, Pro participants will join Thomas for a weekly 60-minute Zoom one-on-ones.

These private consultations are scheduled on your time and you’ll use your association’s current data to build a custom member-retention model your organization can implement right away! 

Plus, meet with Thomas before the boot camp even begins to make sure you have everything you need to get the most out of the experience!

By the end of Data-Driven Member Retention Bootcamp Pro, you will:

What each attendee will need for one-on-ones with Thomas:

  1. Access to Excel
  2. Access to your association’s AMS and the ability to export your membership’s data to Excel to create your own personalized member retention plan.

Bootcamp schedule for all bootcampers: 

  • Week 1, March 8, 2022, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. CT/ 11 a.m. - noon ET:- Getting data and creating your dataset
      • After the first session, you will leave with an understanding of where data is in your organization’s data system, be able to export raw data to Excel, and combine raw data to create metrics and an analytical dataset and create simple visualizations.
      • Bootcamp Pro only: Schedule your weekly one-on-one with Thomas!
  • Week 2, March 15, 2022, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. CT/ 11 a.m. - noon ET: Advanced visualizations and understanding which metrics actually matter
      • In the second session, you will use an analytical dataset to create advanced visualizations, identify which metrics matter — and which metrics don’t. 
      • Bootcamp Pro only: Schedule your weekly one-on-one with Thomas!
  • Week 3, March 22, 2022, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. CT/ 11 a.m. - noon ET: Using your dataset to create a playbook and behavior model for renewal
      • In the third week, you will combine metrics to create both a model for renewals and a playbook for identifying when a member is going to cancel. Plus, you’ll score every member with a likelihood to renew with your association.
      • Bootcamp Pro only: Schedule your weekly one-on-one with Thomas!
  • Week 4, March 29, 2022, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. CT/ 11 a.m. - noon ET: - Using your dataset to segment and target members for renewal
      • In the final week of bootcamp, you will create advanced segmentation based on metrics from the analytical dataset, create targeted outreach campaigns for each segment, and learn to track the effectiveness of the campaigns so you can target more effectively in the future.

All bootcamp participants will receive: 

  1. Weekly lessons with Thomas on data-driven member retention lessons and strategies. Join live and access to watch later! 
  2. Access and use sample spreadsheets of raw example association data throughout the 4-week course. Once the course is over, you will be able to keep each spreadsheet for future reference. 
  3. Access to Sidecar’s course “Predicting & Preventing Member Churn” in Sidecar’s Academy. 
  4. Access and conversations within an exclusive forum in Sidecar Community, where you can connect with fellow bootcampers.

Bootcamp Pro Only: Private one-on-one Zoom consultations with Thomas where you will work with your association’s current data to build your own custom member-retention model that can be utilized within your association.

Thomas Altman

CEO and co-founder of Tasio

Thomas Altman is a data scientist, association expert and entrepreneur. His first introduction to the world of associations was a decade ago when he took a job implementing AMS solutions right out of graduate school. With a degree in applied statistics and machine learning, he immediately saw a gap in what associations were doing with data and what was possible. He saw data either go unused or used to create flashy dashboards that had no impact on helping associations deliver on their missions. Thomas quickly realized that analytics that don't lead to measurable action are, at best, entertainment and, at worst, a waste of resources. He's dedicated his career to changing that and helping associations create data-driven action plans so they can know what needs to be done and know that it's working.

Thomas is also a proud husband and father of a 2 year old. Having visited 52 countries, he's a prodigious traveler. He's a big foodie and a certified sommelier.
