Originally founded in 2016 as AssociationSuccess.org, we have long worked to fulfill our Core Purpose: To build badass leaders. Sound uncomfortable? Maybe it is, but we know no one ever created something worthwhile by staying comfortable, and these leaders don’t accept complacency. They push the envelope and challenge the status quo. They ask why, and they aren’t afraid to experiment, even if it means they might fail.
At Sidecar, we create the professional development tools a leader needs to grow their career and their purpose-driven membership organization, like associations and nonprofits. The skills you’ll learn within our growing community, interactive workshops and from our step-by-step courses will drive innovation, empower strategic thinking and institute cultural changes wherever your career takes you.
That’s why we say, if you want to go, go. But if you want to go far, go with Sidecar.
We publish educational and inspirational content aimed at encouraging growth, leadership and innovation in purpose-driven membership organizations by learning from creative innovators, and we host virtual workshops to dive deeper into these ideas. Our annual flagship event, SURGE, is a three-day virtual conference where we bring together the best and brightest to explore the leadership ideas that will create change for the better.
But it’s within our membership where true leaders really grow. Think of Sidecar as your best friend riding shotgun: You’re in the driver’s seat, but we want to help you get where you’re going — smarter and faster. That’s why our membership includes access to step-by-step courses, eBooks, toolkits, videos, virtual networking opportunities and a private Facebook group where our members learn from each other.

Regardless of where our community is gathering, we ask all participants and speakers to agree to our Community Guidelines. And we mean them, too: We’re not afraid to enforce the rules, and violators won’t be tolerated. If you have any questions, you can always find us by emailing [email protected].
Think before you send.
We’re all adults. Sometimes we use adult language, but we never insult others.
Stay on topic, stay objective.
Keep moving forward. We didn’t come here to be complacent. We get it done, but we do so while sweating the small stuff, recognizing mistakes and knocking down goals anyway.
Seek diverse opinions. We see problem-solving as an opportunity to hear new voices, which helps us find new answers.
Push limits with understanding. No one ever got anywhere worth going without getting a little uncomfortable. We push boundaries, and we find new ones — but respect the time and effort it takes to get there.
Ask ‘why?’ Experiment, fail, learn. We ask the first question to learn the next one to ask. We seek lessons from our failures and our victories.
Communicate fearlessly. We say what we mean, and mean what we say. We look for the right way to make a point, not the way it’s always been said.
